成城 · Tokyo
An upscale residential area that began as a school town, planned and developed in 1925 around Seijo Gakuen. Residents themselves created the 'Seijo Charter' to preserve the wide grid roads and low-rise landscape, so its strengths are its quietness and reputation for safety. In return, it is mostly upscale detached houses and low-rise condominiums, so small rentals are rare to begin with, and the real entry barrier is not that rent is especially high but that 'it is hard to find a room to move into'.
It is an upscale residential area of Setagaya Ward along the Odakyu Odawara Line (Seijogakuen-mae). It is known as a quiet, refined neighborhood where many entertainers and cultural figures live. You should keep in mind that rents are high and that it is slightly far from central Tokyo. Its well-kept streets and good school districts make it highly preferred by families.
