Good to know before applying
- If you studied at a Japanese-language institution on the official notice list, an attendance rate (by hours) of 80% or higher is required to apply. Periods of study on a Temporary Visitor or Designated Activities status are not counted.
- Applications are accepted only by direct submission to the Student Affairs Office (no mail; weekdays only). People living outside Japan can have the person who signed as their emergency contact apply on their behalf (acquaintances or friends are not allowed). People living in Taiwan or Korea can also apply at the Taipei or Seoul office.
- Those who entered a Japanese-language school in the October term of that year cannot apply in Round 1. Round 3 is in principle only for people living in Japan with the "Student" residence status (others should consult the school by early October).
- Incomplete documents are not accepted, and you cannot change your desired department after applying. Fees paid are not refunded, in principle (if you withdraw by Mar 31, 2027, everything except the admission fee is refunded). There is no tuition reduction specifically for international students.
