Good to know before applying

  1. The guidelines differ depending on where you live and your residence status at the time of application (selection within Japan / selection outside Japan). Those living outside Japan at the time of application (including those on a "Temporary Visitor" status) cannot apply for General Selection. Selection outside Japan is only Comprehensive Selection (Core and Scholarship Student).
  2. International students cannot apply for the Autumn Tryout for Japanese students or the school-recommendation selection (open recruitment, "Special Talent Discovery").
  3. Online exams require a PC (Windows/Mac) or an iPad plus Zoom; smartphones cannot be used. You cannot take the exam at the university venue. Only those who take part in the advance connection test are eligible for relief measures in case of communication failure.
  4. JLPT N2 or higher or EJU Japanese 220 or higher is required. If you have attended an educational institution in Japan, your overall attendance rate must be 80% or more. After enrollment, you must also obtain JLPT N2 before advancing to Year 3.
  5. The application fee and admission fee are not refundable. You cannot apply to selection categories held on the same exam day. Information cannot in principle be corrected after application registration.
