About the school
A national university founded in 1875. It has 6,189 students, including 602 international students (undergraduate 136 · graduate 466). There are 453 faculty members, 78 of them from outside Japan.

If you meet the EJU and TOEFL standards you can apply, and you take a Japanese exam (writing and reading) at the university on February 1. There is no English-language course and no online exam.

Good to know before applying
- Only EJU scores from the first session of 2025 to the first session of 2026 are valid (scores from the November 2026 session cannot be used).
- Have ETS send your TOEFL iBT Official Score Report directly to Hitotsubashi University (DI Code 0436) at least one week before the first day of the application period. MyBest Scores are not accepted.
- You may apply to only one faculty. You cannot change your chosen faculty after applying.
- If you apply directly from abroad, your application may not be accepted even for delivery problems that are not your fault (EMS, etc.; it must arrive within the application period).
- The enrollment procedures must be done by the applicant in person. Procedures by a proxy and mailing admission documents from abroad are not accepted. The entrance fee is not refunded for any reason.
