Good to know before applying

  1. Online application registration + paying the application screening fee alone does not complete your application. Mail your application documents; the postmark on the deadline day is valid (Letter Pack Plus / size-2 envelope by express and simple registered mail).
  2. Your attendance rate at your current school must exceed 90% at the time of application. Your period of stay must run to April 1, 2027 or later (if it expires before then, a pledge to renew from your school is needed).
  3. Japanese ability counts only from 2025 and 2026 JLPT/EJU results taken in Japan (for EJU, the total of Japanese excluding the written section).
  4. The Designated Schools recommendation is an exclusive application (you must enroll if accepted) and requires a recommendation from the principal of your Japanese-language school and a password for applying.
  5. The application screening fee is not refunded, in principle. The admission fee is not refunded for any reason. Refunds can be transferred only to financial institutions in Japan.
