Good to know before applying

1. To be eligible to apply you need EJU Japanese (excluding the written section) 225 or higher, Mathematics and Science total 220 or higher, and TOEFL iBT 32 or higher (taken between December 2024 and December 2026; My Best Scores not accepted). You cannot apply unless you meet these.
2. Graduates (or expected graduates) of Japanese high schools and secondary education schools, and those with Japanese permanent residence, cannot apply for this selection.
3. All application documents must be sent by simple registered mail and arrive by 16:00 on the last day of the application period (January 7, 2027). Certificates of completion and academic transcripts must be the originals or certificates issued by a public institution certifying that they are identical to the originals; copies are not accepted.
4. Payment of the examination fee is possible only from December 7, 2026 to January 7, 2027 within Japan, and from December 7 to December 28 by telegraphic transfer from outside Japan. Examination fees once received are in principle not refunded.
5. You cannot change your desired department after applying. During enrollment procedures you will be asked to submit documents proving your ability to cover expenses.

Entrance examination fee ¥17,000 (a ¥510 handling fee applies to credit card payment). There is a system of admission fee and tuition exemption and deferral.

Scholarships

Student life support

Men's dormitory "Meitoku-ryo" (3-person rooms; boarding fee ¥6,500 + utilities ¥9,700, etc.; for male undergraduates from outside Muroran, Noboribetsu and Date cities), women's dormitory "Meirinkan" (single rooms; boarding fee ¥13,200 + utilities, etc. ¥12,300; for female undergraduates whose home is far away).
