Shinshu University admits international students through 2 routes.Based on the guidelines for April 2027 entry

Good to know before applying

1. People who have graduated (or are expected to graduate) from a Japanese high school cannot apply. You must have attended a foreign school equivalent to a high school for at least 2 school years, including the final year.
2. Everyone must take EJU 2026 and also take TOEIC L&R or TOEFL iBT in 2025-2026 to be eligible to apply.
3. Department of Medicine: you cannot apply unless your total EJU score in November 2026 is 680 or more and you have TOEIC L&R 700 or TOEFL iBT 72 or higher. Department of Health Sciences: you cannot apply unless your total score on the same exam is 595 or more.
4. Under the 2026 academic year guidelines, TOEFL iBT is accepted only as the original Test Taker Score Report sent by mail (scores printed from the web are not accepted).
5. The application period differs by faculty (Humanities, Education, Economics and Law, Medicine: Jan 4-8; Science, Engineering, Agriculture, Textile Science and Technology, the Program: Jan 14-21; applications must arrive by the deadline). The application guidelines for the 2027 academic year are scheduled to be published in November.

Amounts in the 2026 academic year application guidelines (as of April 2025): admission fee ¥282,000 + tuition ¥535,800 per year. In addition, student insurance, supporters' association fees and similar costs from ¥55,000, and a ¥900 system usage fee at the time of application.
