Good to know before applying

  1. Application documents must arrive by 20:00 on December 9. Send by registered express mail from within Japan, or by EMS, etc. from abroad; hand delivery and courier services are not accepted. Registration and payment alone do not complete an application.
  2. You cannot apply if you have attended Japanese junior high or high school (or equivalent) for more than 3 years in total, or have not completed the 12th year of schooling at a school in a foreign country.
  3. TOEFL iBT (institution code 7169), IELTS and TOEIC scores must be sent directly by the testing organization (it takes 7-8 weeks to arrive) and must arrive by the end of the application period. Scores from at-home versions are not accepted.
  4. The first stage is selection by EJU results, and only about 15 people per department advance to the second stage (for the Faculty of Law and Politics, about 4 times the quota, etc.).
  5. Issuing a Certificate of Eligibility takes 2-3 months, so you may not make it in time for April enrollment. The timing of enrollment cannot be changed, and the admission fee is not refunded after the enrollment procedures.
