Good to know before applying

  1. Graduates (or expected graduates) of a Japanese high school or secondary education school, or of a foreign school designated by the Minister of Education (12 years or more), cannot apply to this exam (they are covered by the General Selection and Comprehensive Selection). The same applies to Korean high schools and Korean (Chosen) high schools in Japan.
  2. After applying, you cannot change your desired major area or the practical exam subject for the Department of Design. You also cannot apply to multiple major areas, or to the General Selection at the same time.
  3. The exam is held only at the Hachioji campus (no online exam). If you cannot enter or stay in Japan and miss the exam, you are treated as absent, the application fee is not refunded, and there is no make-up exam.
  4. If your attendance rate at a Japanese-language school or vocational school is under 80%, your period of stay may not be renewed, and even if you pass, your admission may be cancelled.
  5. Application documents are sent by mail (online application + mailed documents). If you apply from outside Japan, documents must arrive by the deadline (within Japan, the postmark is valid). If you cannot obtain a residence status, your admission is cancelled.
