The gateway to the Chugoku region's biggest city, where the Sanyo Shinkansen stops and four conventional lines and streetcars converge. It is an hour and a half to Osaka by Shinkansen and one hour to Hakata. Streetcars depart from in front of the station and connect to anywhere in the city center. The downtown is a few streetcar stops away, though.
