Urban living aloneEasy to settle inCommute & transport

A working-class and lively neighborhood where Ueno Park, the national museums and Ameyoko come together. You can catch the Shinkansen and the Narita Sky Access from one station. In return, with the crowds of tourists comes a fairly high rate of petty theft, and with the image of the entertainment district toward Uguisudani one stop away, it is far from a 'quiet, refined residential area'.

It is a transport and cultural hub of Taito Ward where the JR Yamanote Line, Ueno-Tokyo Line, the Shinkansen and Tokyo Metro meet. Ueno Park, the national museums and the lively Ameyoko market come together, giving both greenery and a working-class atmosphere, and there are Korean residents and Korean grocery stores. As an old lively district, the area around Ameyoko is crowded and the neighborhood atmosphere is somewhat old-fashioned, which is a matter of taste. With good access to Tokyo Station and the Shinkansen and cultural facilities and markets close by, it suits those who want a lively life at reasonable rents.
