Kasama is a pottery and craft city in Ibaraki Prefecture on the JR Mito Line. It is famous for Kasama Inari Shrine, one of Japan's three great Inari shrines, and for Kasama ware pottery. Even by limited express it takes around 1 hour 20 minutes each way to Tokyo, and as a small city of 70,000 people, its commercial area is small. It suits retirees and people hoping to move to the countryside who are used to living with a car.
