阿佐ヶ谷 · Tokyo
A Chuo Line neighborhood with a strong artistic and musical flavor, thanks to its history as a gathering place for writers of old and its Jazz Street festival. Its atmosphere is one notch calmer and more orderly than neighboring Koenji, and thanks to the Pearl Center shopping street its daily-life infrastructure is also solid. However, the Rapid passes through this station on weekends and holidays, and there are some somewhat noisy stretches in front of the station at night.
It is a distinctive neighborhood of Suginami Ward served by the JR Chuo and Sobu lines. It is famous for the lively Pearl Center shopping street, where many artists and musicians gather, and the Tanabata Festival, and its atmosphere is slightly calmer than Koenji. It is good to know that there are times of day when the Chuo Line Rapid does not stop. It takes about 20 minutes to Shinjuku and living costs are reasonable, so it suits those who want both a cultural atmosphere and good value.
