A small coastal area in the southern part of the Boso Peninsula's west coast, where the sea and the mountains sit right next to each other. There is a railway, but trains run infrequently and Tokyo is far, so it is hard to make the list unless the purpose is settling or leisure.

Kyonan is a fishing village at the tip of the Boso Peninsula, with JR Uchibo Line stations Awa-Katsuyama and Hota. It is 62 km to Tokyo Station, but there are not many Uchibo Line trains, so demand is more for relocation and second homes than for commuting. With the sea right in front and the mountains wrapping behind, the natural environment is good, but commercial facilities are few, so shopping is done in nearby Tateyama.
