The administrative center of Chuo Ward, where the city hall, prefectural facilities and an old shrine are gathered. There is an Echigo Line station, so Niigata Station is one stop away, and a riverside park is close. A university medical school campus is nearby, so students and office workers live mixed together. There are not as many shops as in the entertainment district, but it is quiet and living is comfortable.
