Commute & transport

Ichigaya is a concentration of offices and cram schools straddling the Chiyoda and Shinjuku ward boundary, where a JR line and two subway lines meet for easy access to Shinjuku, Iidabashi and Ochanomizu, and a cherry blossom path along the outer moat keeps the atmosphere quiet. However, as an office district there are not many actual residential rentals, and market rents for new buildings and units near the station are higher than the Tokyo average, so it suits people who put quietness and access ahead of breadth of choice.

It is a city-center station in Chiyoda Ward served by two lines, the JR Chuo and Sobu lines and Tokyo Metro. The calm scenery known for the outer moat, cherry blossoms and a fishing pond is its appeal. It is office- and cram-school-centered, so housing stock is not large and rents tend to be high. With good access to Shinjuku and Tokyo Station, it suits those who want to live close to work.
