かすみがうら · Ibaraki
A countryside city between Lake Kasumigaura and the southern foot of Mt. Tsukuba. Together with neighboring Tsuchiura, it is an agricultural region whose lotus root production is among the highest in Japan, and it is known for its mild climate and few natural disasters. However, even within the southern Ibaraki commuting zone it is on the far side from Tokyo, so it suits people who prioritize cheap rents and country living.
Kasumigaura is the former Chiyoda and Kasumigaura on the shore of Lake Kasumigaura, a countryside city where, apart from the area around Kandatsu Station on the Joban Line, chestnut and pear orchards and farm villages spread out. Its strengths are nature and cheap housing prices. However, there are few railway stations, so dependence on a car is high.
