龍ケ崎 · Ibaraki
A satellite city in southern Ibaraki centered on Ryugasaki New Town, whose development began in 1977. Its strength is the balance of nature and daily infrastructure, with wide parks and a large shopping mall, and there is a university in the city. However, the population has been declining since its peak in 2010, falling to the level of the late 1990s, and Ueno is still in the 40-minute range even by Special Rapid.
Ryugasaki is a suburban residential city in southern Ibaraki Prefecture where the JR Joban Line and the Kanto Railway Ryugasaki Line meet. It has Ryutsu Keizai University and a new town, and Ryugasaki croquettes are a local specialty. The Special Rapid reaches Tokyo in around 45 minutes, but the old shopping street is away from the station and inconvenient without a car. With cheap housing prices and wide residential areas, it is a neighborhood that suits office workers and families.
