Omitama is an aviation and agricultural city with Ibaraki Airport, a dairy-producing area. There is no station in the center of the city and Hatori Station is 6 km away, so a car is needed. Mito is 21 km and Tsuchiura is 20 km, so it sits between the two cities and is well placed to go out in either direction. With the airport close by it is convenient to travel, but commercial facilities are limited and rent burdens are low.
