Photo of Heguri Town

A neighborhood in western Nara that is around 1 hour to the Osaka area including transfers. A river runs through the town and mountains are close, so the natural environment is good, and rents are low.

A neighborhood in western Nara Prefecture that takes around 1 hour including transfers from Heguri Station on the Kintetsu Ikoma Line toward Namba and Osaka. The Tatsuta River, which also appears in the Hyakunin Isshu, runs through the town, Shigisan Chogosonshiji Temple, said to have been founded by Prince Shotoku, holds the national treasure picture scroll Shigisan Engi Emaki, and with more than 60 burial mounds scattered about as the base of the old powerful Heguri clan, the historical material is abundant. However, it is some distance from the entertainment districts of central Osaka and the commercial area around the station is not large either, so everyday infrastructure is modest. It suits single-person households and retirees who want a quiet countryside neighborhood with burial mounds and temples while still being able to commute by public transportation.
