Living in Yamato-Koriyama

A quiet inland industrial city where goldfish farming and the old alleys of a castle town remain. Rents are clearly cheaper than in central Osaka and everyday infrastructure is in place, so it ranks high for convenience and comfort in Nara Prefecture's livability ranking. However, it takes close to 50 minutes to Osaka, so it is not an 'ultra-close bedroom town', and its safety rating is relatively low, which you should keep in mind.

About 25 to 30 minutes to Osaka Tennoji by JR Yamatoji Line rapid. A castle town known for Koriyama Castle and goldfish farming ponds and also an Osaka bedroom town, where rent for a 1K is on the cheap side compared with Osaka city. However, with population decline and aging (in the 30% range), there is little youthful energy, and train frequency is low late at night. It is a neighborhood that suits office workers and international students looking for an inexpensive, quiet area within commuting range of Osaka.
