Good valueCommute & transport

The transportation hub of Nara City, where lines from three directions meet. You can change trains toward Nara, Kyoto or Osaka, and rents are clearly lower than in the city center, which makes it practical for people who travel a lot within Kansai.

The transportation hub of Nara City, where the Kintetsu Nara Line, Kyoto Line and Kashihara Line meet. Saidaiji, the temple the station is named after, is an ancient temple founded in 765 at the vow of Retired Empress Koken, famous for the 'Ochamori' event (sharing tea from a huge tea bowl) begun by the Kamakura-period monk Eison when he revived the temple, and within walking distance are the remains of Heijo Palace, the palace of the ancient capital Heijo-kyo. However, it takes about 30 minutes by express to Osaka Namba, so commuting takes somewhat longer, and compared with the scale of the downtown entertainment districts of central Osaka, the area around the station is more residential than commercial. It suits families and office workers who commute to Osaka while living beside the relaxed atmosphere and history of the Heijo Palace remains.
