The geographic center of Kansai Science City, where research institutions are gathered. Central Osaka is around an hour away, so it is a place to consider on the premise of working in this area rather than commuting, and as a planned development its daily routes are well organized.

A science and research city in southern Kyoto, about 1 hour 10 minutes to Osaka Station on the JR Gakkentoshi Line. As the geographic center of Kansai Science City (Gakken Toshi), it is home to the Kansai-kan of the National Diet Library and the ATR research institute, and it has long been famous as a strawberry-growing area, so strawberry-picking tour buses line up each season. However, it is some distance from central Osaka and Kyoto, so commuting time is not short, and it is closer to a quiet research and residential area than an entertainment district. It suits single-person households and researchers who commute to Osaka and want to live leisurely in a nature-and-research-park atmosphere.
