A small town on the border between Kyoto and Osaka, about 15 minutes to Kyoto Station and about 32 minutes to Osaka Station. It is positioned so that you can commute to either city, yet rents are clearly lower than in the city centers.

A small town on the border between Kyoto and Osaka, about 15 minutes from Yamazaki Station on the JR Kyoto Line to Kyoto Station and about 32 minutes to Osaka Station. It has the Suntory Yamazaki Distillery, Japan's first malt whisky distillery, and the national-treasure-class tea room 'Taian', built by the tea master Sen no Rikyu, still remains, so historical and industrial material is abundant. However, as a small town with a small population, its commercial area and everyday infrastructure are clearly smaller than in central Osaka or Kyoto. It suits single-person households who want to live quietly beside whisky and tea ceremony culture in a location where they can commute to both Kyoto and Osaka.
