Commute & transport

The castle town of Fushimi Castle, built by Toyotomi Hideyoshi, and one of Japan's biggest sake-brewing districts, distinguished by charming alleys lined with the white-walled buildings of old breweries such as Gekkeikan and Kizakura. Keihan and Kintetsu stations are 3 minutes apart on foot, and with large supermarkets, AEON and the Otesuji shopping street within walking distance, it is a practical family residential area. However, there is no direct line to Osaka, so it is somewhat far as a pure commuting distance.

This is the living center of Fushimi, close to the Keihan Main Line and the Kintetsu Kyoto Line. A charming neighborhood known for Fushimi Inari and the sake-brewing district, it has access to Kyoto and Osaka on two lines and reasonable rents, so it is a solid choice for families. Because it is a large ward, there are differences between neighborhoods, which is worth knowing. It suits families who want low housing costs along with transit in both directions.
