A town in southern Kyoto Prefecture with no railway station in the town, so a car or bus is essential. The Hamacha tea plantation along the Kizu River embankment, which includes trees more than 300 years old, was designated a Japan Heritage site in 2016, and since it is fertile land reclaimed from the old Ogura Pond, it is also famous as a major producer of Kyoto vegetables such as 'Yodo daikon'. The drawback is that there is no railway running directly to central Osaka or Kyoto, so you have to take a Keihan Bus to Yodo Station on the Keihan Main Line (about 15 minutes) or Kintetsu Okubo Station (about 20 minutes) and change trains. Because it is near the Kumiyama Junction, a logistics hub, it is a neighborhood that suits single-person households and office workers who travel by car often.
