A small town in Gifu Prefecture that takes about 24 minutes to Ogaki Station on the Yoro Railway, then another 30 minutes or more to Nagoya after transferring to the JR Tokaido Line, a total of about 55 to 60 minutes. A filial-piety legend is told of a woodcutter who cared for his aged father with a spring of sake he discovered, and the Yoro Falls (32 m drop), so famous that in 717 Emperor Gensho drank the spring water and changed the era name to 'Yoro', are the symbol of the town. However, even by Nagoya-area standards it is a small town where transfers take quite a while, so entertainment-district infrastructure is not large and daily life can be inconvenient without a car. It is a neighborhood that suits single-person households who want a quiet rural life with waterfalls, hot springs and tradition and who commute or attend school in Nagoya only occasionally.
