Commute & transport

A transportation hub with a shortest travel time of 9 minutes to Nagoya Station by Shinkansen. It is clearly strong for people who travel on business often or make many long-distance trips, and rents are as low as in a regional city.

A transportation hub from which Nagoya Station is as little as 9 minutes by Hikari or Kodama from Shinkansen Gifu-Hashima Station. It has a history of becoming a granary region thanks to the flood-control work on the Kiso River that Satsuma domain samurai completed at the risk of their lives in the Edo period, and Takehana Betsuin, famous for its wisteria more than 300 years old, is a local landmark that draws worshippers every spring. However, commuting by Shinkansen costs more than by conventional line even with a commuter pass, so it is worth knowing that it is a somewhat exceptional approach for commuters in the Nagoya area, who mostly use conventional lines. It suits single-person households and office workers who want to make ultra-fast round trips to Nagoya while enjoying the relaxed pace of a quiet granary region.
