It is a newly developed area built up around the relocation of the Gifu Prefectural Government to this area (the Yabuta district) in 1966, and nearby Kagashima has Kagashima Kobo (Otsuji), with a legend that Kukai (Kobo Daishi) visited in 813 by order of Emperor Saga, as well as the remains of a Sengoku-period castle. However, the station itself is closer to a quiet bedroom town than an entertainment district, so it is hard to expect a commercial area like central Nagoya. It suits single-person households and office workers who commute to Nagoya and want a quiet residential area near government offices and administrative facilities.
