A quiet small town where you take a bus to Gifu Station and continue to Nagoya Station by JR or Meitetsu. It has Enkyoji Temple, founded by Kobo Daishi (Kukai) in 811 in the Heian period, which holds several nationally designated Important Cultural Properties (a tower gate and Buddhist statues) and is even called the 'Shosoin of Mino'. However, there is no railway station in the town, so a bus transfer is essential, and the commercial scale is small compared with the entertainment districts of Nagoya. It has the smallest area in Gifu Prefecture but a high population density, and it suits single-person households and families who commute to Nagoya and want a compact, quiet neighborhood.
