The center of Mizuho City in Gifu Prefecture, about 30 minutes from Hozumi Station on the JR Tokaido Line to Nagoya Station. It is said to be the birthplace of the sweet persimmon variety 'Fuyugaki', and the old Mieji-juku road, the 55th post station of the Edo-period Nakasendo, remains to the north. However, commercial facilities are much smaller in scale than in Nagoya, so for big shopping or nightlife you have to go out to Nagoya. It suits single-person households and office workers who commute to Nagoya and want to live in a quiet bedroom town.
