A town in southern Gifu Prefecture, about 25 minutes from Meitetsu Kasamatsu Station to Nagoya Station. In the Edo period it was an important administrative center with the Kasamatsu Jin'ya that governed the Mino region, and the Kasamatsu Racecourse, relocated here in 1934, produced the famous horse Oguri Cap and is still a representative local landmark. However, compared with central Nagoya the shopping streets are smaller and there is almost no nightlife, so daily convenience depends heavily on a car. It suits single-person households and office workers who commute to Nagoya and want a quiet, inexpensive small-town life.
