A small town in Gifu Prefecture, about 50 minutes to Nagoya Station by transferring at Ogaki on the JR Tokaido Main Line. It is the site of the 1600 Battle of Sekigahara, where Tokugawa Ieyasu and Ishida Mitsunari clashed, and the camp sites of the old commanders, such as Ishida Mitsunari's camp site, remain throughout the town, and you can learn the history in detail at the 'Gifu-Sekigahara Battlefield Memorial Museum'. However, as a small town it has few commercial facilities and everyday infrastructure falls far short of Nagoya's, so a car is practically essential. It is a neighborhood that suits single-person households who want a quiet small-town life surrounded by historic sites and who commute or attend school in Nagoya only occasionally.
