A town in southern Kyoto with no railway station, where you have to take a bus to a station in a neighboring city and then change trains. It is known as the place where the Japanese green tea method began, and tea cultivation is the local identity.

A town area in southern Kyoto where there is no railway station, so you take a bus to JR Uji Station or Kintetsu Shin-Tanabe Station and change to a train to reach Kyoto Station. In 1738 Nagatani Soen developed the 'Aosei sencha method' here in Yuyadani, so it is called the birthplace of Japanese green tea (sencha), and his birthplace and the remains of his hoiro (tea-drying hearth) are still preserved. However, you should bear in mind that there is no railway line and buses are infrequent, so a car is practically essential for commuting to Kyoto or Osaka. It is a neighborhood that suits households with a car who want to live quietly amid tea fields and rural scenery.
