A mountain city in a river basin in the northwest of the prefecture, with nature as its strength. It is quiet, a private car is essential, and it is not within Tokyo commuting range.

Hitachi-Omiya is a mountain city in the Kuji River basin in the northwest of the prefecture. Hitachi-Omiya Station is in the city center, so it is rare in northern Ibaraki in that you can get around by rail, and Mito is 21 km away. However, the station area is narrow, so a car is needed once you go a little way out. With rivers and mountains close by, the natural environment is good, but for big shopping and nightlife you have to go out to Mito.
