多摩センター · Tokyo
The central commercial and cultural hub of Tama New Town, where two private railways and a monorail meet. Its strength is its comfort, with wide pedestrian decks, parks, a large shopping mall and even Sanrio Puroland. However, Shibuya and Tokyo Station involve transfers and stretch to 40 minutes to over an hour, and there is a clear two-sided nature: the aging of the whole new town and a shortage of nightlife and infrastructure for young people.
Tama-Center is the center of Tama New Town, where three lines meet, including the Keio and Odakyu Tama lines and the Tama Monorail. It is a comfortable residential area where planned, wide pedestrian streets, large commercial facilities and parks blend together. The city center is some distance away, so commuting times tend to be long. Facilities such as Sanrio Puroland are close, and with its well-kept environment and reasonable rents, it is a neighborhood popular with families.
