川越 · Saitama
A historic tourist city in western Saitama famous for its old warehouse-district shopping street, which preserves the atmosphere of the Edo period. Rents are clearly cheaper than in central Tokyo, and the infrastructure around the station is also well developed. However, on weekends and holidays tourists swarm in and the old streets area becomes very crowded, and it is somewhat far for a daily commute to central Tokyo.
It is a historic tourist city in western Saitama served by the JR Kawagoe Line and the Tobu Tojo Line. Famous for its kurazukuri warehouse streets, called 'Little Edo', it draws tourists on weekends. The distance to the city center means commuting requires transfers and time, which is a downside. With well-developed shopping streets and daily-life infrastructure and more relaxed rents than the city center, it suits family living.
