Living in Ome

The central station of Ome City on the JR Ome Line. Rents are among the lowest in Tokyo, and mountains and rivers are within the living area. Commuting to the city center takes a lot of time because of the transfer at Tachikawa, but you can get a much larger home for the same money.

Ome is a hub in western Tokyo's Tama area on the JR Ome Line. The area around the station has daily infrastructure like a provincial city, and a short way off, the Tama River and the mountains are close. Commuting to the city center takes time and the choice of lines is limited. It is an outlying living area worth considering when you want a quiet life close to nature.
