御所市 · Nara
A city in southwestern Nara about 1 hour to Osaka by semi-express, where the Edo-period street structure remains intact, down to the waterways and drainage. The commute takes time, but rents are very low.
A city in southwestern Nara Prefecture, about 1 hour by semi-express from Kintetsu Gose Station to Osaka-Abenobashi. 'Gosemachi', a jin'ya-machi (a town built around a local lord's residence) formed in the early Edo period, preserves even the waterway and drainage structure of that time, and the 'Gose-gaki' persimmon, which happened to be born in this area between the Muromachi and early Edo periods, is known as the ancestor of all sweet persimmons and is called the 'phantom persimmon'. However, it is far from big-city commercial areas, a regional small city somewhat distant for commuting to Osaka, so its entertainment area is not large. It suits single-person households and office workers who commute to Osaka and want the atmosphere of an old townscape and a relaxed regional life.
