A rural town in the center of the Nara Basin, about 50 minutes to Osaka including transfers. Ancient ruins remain as national historic sites, and rents are low, so it is easy to find a spacious home.

A rural town in the center of the Nara Basin, about 50 minutes from Kintetsu Tawaramoto Station to Osaka Namba Station including a transfer at Yamato-Saidaiji. The Karako-Kagi ruins, a large moated settlement from the Yayoi period, are designated a national historic site, and traces of a leading village of the Kinki region, such as bronze bell molds and pottery with tower drawings, have been excavated; the local specialty ajima-imo (taro) is a representative local crop recognized as a Yamato traditional vegetable. However, the railway does not connect directly to central Osaka and requires a transfer, and the entertainment area is small too, so everyday infrastructure often depends on a car. It suits single-person households and families who want to live quietly beside the rice-field scenery typical of the Nara Basin and its long-established historic remains.
