今里 · Osaka
A working-class residential area with densely packed shopping streets that keep their old charm, such as the Higashinari Shinmichi Road, where six merchants' associations connect. Three lines pass through, two subway lines plus Kintetsu, so Namba is 8 minutes away without a transfer. It is distinctly cheaper than downtown Osaka, and many say that with young families moving in recently, the atmosphere has become more stable than before.
This is a Korean living area in Ikuno Ward, where the Osaka Metro Sennichimae and Imazatosuji lines meet. It connects to Tsuruhashi Koreatown, so Korean grocers and side-dish shops are close, and with many Zainichi Koreans living here, you can easily enjoy Korean living infrastructure in the early days of settling in. There are many old houses and stores, so building condition varies greatly and some areas are somewhat run-down. Access to Namba and Tennoji is good and rents are low, so the burden is light for Koreans living alone or with families in their early days of settling in.
