Living in Takanawa

Passing from the estates of Edo-period daimyo to the residences of imperial family members and business leaders after the Meiji era, this is one of Tokyo's leading upscale residential areas, still ranked near the top in surveys of where company presidents live. The Shinkansen at Shinagawa Station is one stop away, and Haneda is within 20 minutes on a direct Keikyu train. In return, rents are well above the Tokyo average and the large-scale redevelopment around the station is still under construction.

It is an upscale residential area of Minato Ward along JR Takanawa Gateway Station and the Keikyu and Toei (Sengakuji) lines. Large-scale redevelopment is under way, and infrastructure should improve further. For now construction is in full swing and rents tend to be high. With good access to Shinagawa and the Shinkansen, it is a high-end location for those with business needs.
