It once had a bad reputation for a concentration of entertainment businesses, but after cleanup efforts from the mid-2000s much of that has been sorted out, and it is now a neighborhood where a sizable Chinese community has settled and authentic Chinese restaurants and grocery stores have developed. You can reach Ueno and Tokyo Station on the single Keihin-Tohoku Line without transferring while rents are lower than on the Tokyo side across the river, making it a realistic choice for single residents who want to save on both commuting time and living costs.

It is a multinational neighborhood in southern Saitama served by the JR Keihin-Tohoku Line. A high share of foreign residents has brought together restaurants from many countries, and rents are cheaper than in Tokyo, so it is highly popular with international students and foreigners. The area around the station is somewhat hectic and the living atmosphere can be a matter of taste. With direct access to Ueno and central Tokyo while saving a great deal on costs, it suits single residents who value good value.
