The gateway to Osaka, where the Kansai region's largest network of lines comes together. Shopping and dining connect via underground malls, so most needs are covered on foot, but there is not much purely residential housing, so the residents are mainly single people living tucked into the business and shopping districts. With rents among the highest in central Osaka and the noise typical of an entertainment district, the price of convenience is clear.

This is the center of Kita, where Kansai's largest network of lines meets, including JR, Hankyu, Hanshin and the Osaka Metro Midosuji Line. Department stores, underground malls and major corporate offices are concentrated here, putting shopping and business in one place, which makes it the gateway to Osaka. Housing is scarce and rents are among the highest downtown, so demand comes more from people who want to live near work and from single-person households than from long-term residents. Its strengths are overwhelming transit that reaches anywhere without transfers and abundant amenities, so it especially suits office workers with a wide range of activity.
