銀座 · Tokyo
A neighborhood where department stores, luxury boulevards and long-established restaurants take the lead over everyday living. Three subway lines cross here, so transport is among the best in Tokyo, but the supply of rentals is very small, so the idea of a 'neighborhood rent level' hardly applies. The few who actually live here are single residents in older studios mixed in with offices or in ultra-expensive new buildings.
It is Tokyo's premier commercial center, where three Tokyo Metro lines meet. Department stores, luxury boutiques and long-established restaurants are packed together, making it a byword for shopping and fine dining. There is almost no housing stock and rents are among the highest in the city, so it is not well suited as a place to live. Its appeal lies in the glamorous downtown itself and its proximity to Tokyo Station and Shimbashi.
