Commute & transport

One of the largest transfer stations in Chiba Prefecture, where two JR lines plus the Tozai Line (through service with Toyo Rapid Railway) meet. Department-store-class commercial facilities are weak, but the shops inside the station are solid, so it suits people who put commuting efficiency ahead of a lively district. However, the Tozai Line is among the most crowded lines in Tokyo, so you must be ready for packed rush-hour trains toward Tokyo.

It is a huge transfer station in western Chiba where five lines meet: three JR lines, the Tokyo Metro Tozai Line and Toyo Rapid Railway. Many lines crossing make access to both the city center and the various parts of Chiba very convenient. With lots of transferring passengers, the station itself tends to be always crowded. Direct service on the Tozai Line reaches Otemachi in one ride, making it a hub with high demand from office workers.
